What exactly is dust?
Dust is a term used to describe tiny particles suspended in the air. It can be found in a variety of places. For example common household dust comes from skin particles and fabrics while industrial dust comes from wood and metal materials. The fine particles are not visible to the human eye, but when concentrated, they may form a visible haze in the atmosphere. The little particles that fall from our bodies and clothing collect all over your home. Dust remains stationary in some parts, while rising in the air and settling in another location in other areas where there are regular movements. Fighting dust is nearly hard, but by following these simple steps, you can reduce the quantity of dust in your home and save time and effort.
Replace your bedding.
We spend a lot of time in bed, and our bedding accumulates a lot of skin flakes. To keep the bedroom dust-free, you should replace the pillowcases and linens once a week. Duvets and blankets can be washed less frequently, but you can shake them outside to get rid of some of the dust. Even clean linen sheds fibres, which is to be expected.
Dust collection
Instead of using a feather duster or a dry cloth to clean your house, use a moist cloth to remove dust. Use your vacuum cleaner’s attachments to clean hard-to-reach locations where dust tends to accumulate.
Area rugs should be shaken.
Carpets and rugs absorb a lot of dust, thus they need to be vacuumed on a regular basis to keep dust and dust mites out of their fibres. Some persons with dust allergies have discovered a remedy by replacing carpet with concrete floors in their houses. Rugs are a wonderful addition to a hard floor, but they must be battered to get a complete cleaning, as pounding eliminates more dust than vacuuming.
Upholstery cushions should be avoided.
Upholstery accumulates dust as well, and every time we sit down, we lift fine particles lodged in the fibres. Upholstery, such carpet and rugs, should be vacuumed at least once a week. Cushions should also be carried outside and battered to get rid of dust. Leather upholstery is an alternative to fabric upholstery since it does not gather dust and can be readily cleaned with a damp cloth.
Curtains made of light fabric are ideal.
Blinds should not be used on your windows. Instead, use curtains made of a light fabric that can be readily washed. They should be washed every few months or whenever you believe it is necessary.
Maintain a clean floor.
To make vacuuming easier, find a home for all of the items that are currently on the floor. If the floor is congested, it is more likely that you may overlook specific locations.
